Safeguarding children has been a big focus during May as I’ve completed my child concern/CAF training and this weekend participated in a Child Protection level 2 course. Both courses look at issues for concern when working with children and have provided a refresher for my degree learning.
It is essential for everyone working with children that they have an understanding of child protection, but everybody who has any contact with children should be involved too. The main principle of child protection is that if you feel that a child is at risk of harm by the people around them or the environment in which they live, you should pass the information on to someone who can help. This is where poking your nose in is a positive asset! If ever you have concerns about a child and don’t know what to do with the information please do not hesitate to ask me for guidance and I will help with signposting you in the right direction.
